We are seeking a Caregivers to join our bank staff team at Demidav.

Location:

Within the Client’s home in Northampton, Northamptonshire.

Registered Manager / Care Coordinator

Job Purpose:

Your primary role as a Carergiver is to assist our clients with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, washing, showering, medication administration, cleaning, and assistance with cooking.

Main Responsibilities:

Support in the Home

  • Assist clients with personal care needs (e.g., showering, full body wash, oral care, toileting, dressing/undressing, managing continence needs, eating and drinking)
  • Assist with domestic activities such as housework and laundry, and meal preparation through prompting, feeding, guidance, and physical assistance
  • Provide domestic assistance to maintain a healthy, clean, and safe environment
  • Administer medication as prescribed by GP or relevant professionals (training provided)
  • Respond to emergencies when necessary
  • Ensure privacy and dignity are maintained at all times

Equipment/Property

  • Use specialist equipment, including wheelchairs, special seating, hoists, gastrostomy feeding, and mobility equipment (training provided if necessary)
  • Understand and use peg feeding (training provided if necessary)

Communication & Record Keeping

  • Understand different types of communication aids, both low-tech and high-tech
  • Be aware of significant changes in the client’s health or behaviour and discuss with the Registered Manager, client’s family, and other professionals
  • Record all visit details daily

Supervision/Line Management

  • Provide regular written and verbal feedback and communication with the family, Registered Manager, and relevant professionals
  • Receive supervision and welfare calls as arranged by the Operations Manager’s Assistant

Conduct

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding clients and their families at all times
  • Follow Health and Safety policies
  • Conduct all activities professionally and adhere to the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers

Moving & Handling

  • Assist clients with all transfers, adhering to moving and handling advice and protocols, and using recommended specialist equipment
  • Support clients in accessing, participating, and enjoying home and leisure activities, which may involve physical assistance, therapy, or mobility equipment

Educational Responsibilities

  • Participate in regular supported and mandatory learning opportunities provided by the employer
  • Keep up-to-date with training to meet clients’ needs effectively
  • Identify and discuss your training needs with your manager
  • Attend online and face-to-face training, team meetings, and appraisal review meetings

Person Specification

  • Physically fit to handle the demands of the role, including bending, kneeling, squatting, or lunging for good posture during handling tasks
  • Confidence working in the client’s home
  • Willingness to learn new tasks, such as hoisting, feeding, and personal care routines (training provided)
  • Flexible and able to use own initiative
  • Patient, tolerant, and proactive with a cheerful, caring, and positive attitude
  • Reliable and trustworthy with a responsible attitude
  • Flexible with start and finish times according to client needs
  • Confident with using IT, excellent literacy and numeracy skills, and good communication skills
  • Basic understanding of rehabilitation principles
  • Proactive in developing a range of activities and participating in outdoor activities
  • Understanding of maintaining confidentiality and respecting clients’ and families’ privacy
  • Keep own record of hours worked and attend supervision as required
  • Willingness to travel

A full clean driving licence and a fully working vehicle is required to travel to and from clients homes.
